KeyKey Touch Typing Tutor App Reviews
It’s a great looking app, but there is zero content in it and despite the description there is no functionality to help you become a better typist (ex: record keeping, timed tests). Don’t bother until (if) they add additional features so you can benchmark your progress.
Missing: the ability to define custom lessons, automatically generated lessons by finger group, the COLEMAK layout, and layout detection from your system settings. Present: minimal statistics, a handful of built-in lessons.
Good!
It’s simple keyboard trainer. Very useful for me, try to use Dvorak with it. Maybe you’ll add everyday statistics - it’ll be very useful?
Crashes, no timer, but useful
M1 mac, app will lock up for a short time when trying to shut the app down. There is a place to tell the app how long you would like to practice per day, but no timer option that I can find. Other than that, I can practice using capitols and the number keys. I use this app every day.

Прложение прекрасное!!! Есть большаая просьба!!! Сделаете под Европейскую раскладку!!!
Works every time. Challenging.
Appreciate the effort. I have a long way to go. (Old habits.)
❤️ Almost Everything I Wanted! ❤️
I bought the app initially a while back thinking to improve my typing speed and make less errors. I got exactly what I came for, and then more. Later obviously I imagined new things I wanted...which I think they're working on putting in. WELL WORTH the price of admission. I saw a review from another user who learned DVORAK with KeyKey. That is SO awesome. I actually switched to DVORAK long ago without it, and wish I had it to learn with. DVORAK is so fantastic - it has relieved the pain from carpel tunnel or RSI ...whatever it was which was caused by typing so much with QWERTY. It's great that KeyKey supports the DVORAK layout! Some reviews say there's no statistics or that it's "calling home" to report stats online, which are completely untrue statements. I hope Apple removes that false information. It only does offline stats and saves it privately and securely in your own iCloud account for syncronizing and backup. The developer has no access to it. Now the only things I am hoping for are custom text to practice with, and a mode to practice words which have common typos (based on my own stats). This app is great and while I have not used it a ton, I do enjoy its slick interface and design, and the straightforward functionality. In fact I would vote it for an Apple Design award!
I wish I could give Zero stars
This app actually made my typing worse. There is no option to practice with full sentences. If you want to get fast at typing incorhent words this is the app for you but it doesn't help at all.
Doesn't work with remapped keyboards
I have an Ergodox keyboard and remapped my keys with a Colemak layout but it doesn't register the correct keys. It does work if you don't remap your keys and just use the standard qwerty layout with the Colemak typing practice though.
NOT worth it.
There is nothing impressive about this app. It doesn't keep a statistical history which if you're serious aobut improving your typing is a requirement. Very little customization as well, essentially "what you see is what you get." There are a few toggles for things such as "uppercase", "punctuation", etc. And probably Light / Dark theme (I don't remember). But over all that's about as basic as it gets. Two Stars because: The app is clean, and It is good for extremely basic learning... But it is certainly not even remotely close to being worth the money at all. There are far better options that are free. At this price point I would at least expect progreass analytics (stored locally and NOT calling home). Items like "keys most frequently missed", and then a tailored type experience to assist with those often missed keys. App misses the Mark, will request refund, will be uninstalled.
Great typing tutor
I switche to DVORAK from QWERTY with KeyKey. It took about 2 months to memorize the keys and 3 to become moderatly proficient. I come back to KeyKey once a week to practice. I hope the developer considers adding addon packs maybe as in-app purchases for this like programming languaues or popular editor trainers like VIM.
Impresive app, even more impressive developers.
I purchased this app over a year a go. It was great when I purchased it & since then its gotten better and better. I feel like this is a model development team. They consistently release meaningful updates and have greatly improved its UI and functionality. I have yet to be asked to repurchase, or subscribe even though the product I initially paid for has been improved dramatically. It seems rare these days to have that experience. Its obvious these developers care about their product and the people that use it. I recomend it to anyone whos interested in expanding their typing skills.
Looks neat
Minimal interface, better than online typing practice
Wonderful experience!
My favorite part of this app is the UI design, the UI fits into macOS very well, and the hints (visual keyboard, hand) help me to memorize well. I hope the developer can provide with more lessons in the upcoming updates.
Есть куда расти
Достаточно неплохой тренажёр с приятным интерфейсом. Но, больно мало уроков, и нет статистики. Также программа давно не получала обновлений. P.S. Спасибо за скидку 😉
